Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi

What seems like a very simple story at very first, quickly becomes an intriguing read with a very deep message. Before the coffee gets cold is a multi-layered ode to coffee and human nature. From very detailed description of coffee shop and coffee making procedure, to open exposure of feelings and thoughts that make us vulnerable and so very human. In this book, everyone can find at least a piece of themselves. If you let it. What I found so memorizing is how this story is in a very raw and realistic way showing how time is passing by, how things happen without our control and how we, as humans, react to that. It is showing us that we can, if we stop for just a minute, live our life to the fullest.

Another thing that really stayed with me was how sometimes we are making our own life miserable and tougher. All of this just because we think we know what other people think, what they will say and how they will react. But if we would just let them speak, be open and give them opportunity… we would be amazed with an outcome.

We can be our own worst enemy and toughest critic.

Before the coffee gets cold with these stories of four women that traveled in time is a great reminder to all of us, to live more honestly, with open heart and without regrets. No matter who you are, this book will, next to a very good read, give you at least one strong takeaway, but almost sure that more than one. So, I would definitely recommend it to put it on your to-read list.
