Many times we are overloaded with the tasks, with every day’s happening. Our schedules are full, we are running from one appointment to the other. Work, pets, kids, gym, partner, family, friends, do the chores, do the shopping, clean up the apartment and many other things and before we know it, days, weeks, sometimes even months and years go by.
How come we can hardly stop? Stop and enjoy in daily little things that we do? We worry all the time either by the past that has gone by and what all we’ve done wrong, either we are frightened and scared about what the future will bring to us. But what about NOW? When did we stop caring about the things we are doing right now? Why did we forget how to enjoy the moment we have? We are having a coffee with friends, but in the meantime we are rather scrolling on the Facebook, Instagram or some other social media. We are talking to each other over the phone, instead of spending time in person. We just don’t know how to be present anymore.
And here I am the same. So many times I stick my head to the phone, iPad or computer, sitting next to my loved ones. Without a phone I feel that my hands are empty, that something is missing and I don’t know what to do with them.
But I definitely love it when I manage to leave the phone and all other screens away and I can enjoy the moment. The moment with my dearest ones, drinking coffee and talking or enjoying fresh air outside, or just being together and doing nothing. Sometimes also enjoying moments by myself. Then you start noticing the little things, the things that you didn’t even notice before, the things that now make you happy and grateful. Because you are here, present at this moment and the world seems brighter and more colorful.
Unfortunately this is not a thing that you would do once and it would stay.
Daily rhythm quickly drives us back to the same pace we were in before, so we have to remind ourselves about being present now. Like with everything else in life, if you want to achieve something, you have to work for it. Here is the same., but it is definitely worth it.
Real magic happens when we are present at the moment and start to enjoy the little things. So put away the screens and thing about what is happening around you right now, be grateful for everything you have and give your presence to the loved ones. It’s the best gift you can give to them and to yourself.
